5 Must-have Fashionable Pieces to Pack for Every Weekend Trip

I'm getting ready to take a trip to my brother's high school graduation next week. I'm always at a loss of what to take with me on my trip. It seems I always pack far more than I actually need. Fortunately, the latest TwitterMoms discussion proves to be a helpful tool for me as I'm planning my trip. Here are the five must-have fashionable pieces to pack for every weekend trip.

1) A comfortable pair of jeans for traveling. This has become especially important since I've started traveling with a young child. I need a pair of pants that can hold up drool, spilled juice, and other miscellaneous child-related stains.
2) A nice pair of heels. A good pair of heels makes me feel dressed up, regardless of whether I'm wearing them with a pair of nice jeans or a pretty dress.
3) My favorite pajamas. Slipping into something "a little more comfortable" usually means my favorite pair of sweatpants and an oversized t-shirt. They may not be considered "fashionable pieces" but they certainly help with my beauty sleep. That's fashionable, right?
4) A nice button up blouse. It's hard to go wrong with this wardrobe classic. I find they can be very versatile, and can be paired with a nice pair of slacks, a skirt, or my personal favorite - blue jeans.
5) Pretty accessories. I seldom get to wear earrings anymore. My son likes to use them to practice his hand-eye coordination. Needless to say, a few swift yanks and my earrings have been retired for the time being.

Those are my suggestions. You can share your own by participating in the TwitterMoms discussion. I'm sure my suitcase will be overloaded as usual when I leave next week.

  1. I haven't worn heels in yrs and my ankle probably wouldn't like it much. I live in jeans or pjs!

  2. lol, Lori, I hear you on that one. I think that's why heels make me feel dressed up. I don't get to wear them very much. Mainly just on date/girls night once or twice a month. I've learned that it takes a lot of skill to wear 4 inch heels and balance a ten month old on your hip - that's an accident waiting to happen.

PJs and jeans are the lifeblood of my current wardrobe - those and my favorite pair of black "stretchy" cotton pants. Love them.
